Born on October 29, 1989 in Trbovlje, more or less all of my life before cycling was dedicated to ski jumping. I attended the high school of economics in Kranj and then the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, where a diploma is still waiting for me (sad face). In 2006 we won a silver medal at the Junior World Ski Jumping Championships in Kranj, and a year later we became the Junior World Champions in Italy. The same year I won 2 competitions in the Continental Cup, at home Planica and in the American Westby. Then this happened on the then largest ski jump in the world. I really stopped jumping only in 2012, when I was already recreationally riding a bike. Cycling attracted me through duathlon – it basically annoyed me; I ran well, but I rode a bike with a flat bar – it made me angry because I didn’t go and because it was so hard for me. I entered the cycling world through the doors of KK Radenska and then landed at KK Adria Mobil, from where I moved in 2016 to the Dutch LottoNL Jumbo, where I remain today. The club was called Team Jumbo – Visma in the 2019 season. The 2019 season was the most successful so far, I finished on the first podium on the Grand Tour on the Giro, I became the father of Lev, and at the end of August we started attacking the second Grand Tour of the season. Three weeks later in Madrid, together with the team we were looking forward to our first victory on the Grand Tour, we won the Vuelta 2019.
