The Tour de Romandie delivered everything you expect from a Swiss stage race: demanding climbs, tactical racing, fast finishes and decisive battles on the ascents. For Primož, the race didn’t bring a fight for the overall victory, but it did highlight some of his most recognizable racing traits—an instinct for attacking, a willingness to take risks, and a finishing kick that carried him to a stage podium. The first road stage already showed how demanding the race would be. On the climb to Ovronnaz, the main favorite for the overall win split the group, and Primož was among the first to respond, but couldn’t hold the pace for long. He later found himself in a larger chasing group that tried to close the gap in the valley, but the front quartet stayed clear to the finish. Primož’s moment of the week came in the fourth, queen stage between Broc and Charmey. He didn’t wait for the final showdown among the favorites—he attacked from the peloton and moved into the breakaway. On the lower slopes of the final climb to Jaunpass, he drove a reduced front group, and for a moment it looked like the move could significantly shape the outcome of the stage. But behind him, the peloton increased the pace, and the race leader launched a decisive attack on the final climb, riding solo to the stage win. Primož’s move didn’t result in a top finish, but it clearly showed his intent: he didn’t come to race passively, but to actively shape the race. His best result came on the final day, on the closing stage from Lucens to Leysin. In the last kilometer, he produced a strong late acceleration to return to the front and crossed the line in third place, securing a double stage podium for the team on the final day of the race. For Primož, Romandie wasn’t about the general classification, but about finding rhythm, making aggressive moves and building team dynamics. Most importantly, he finished the week with a visible result: third place on a demanding final stage, once again showing his ability to find the right moment to attack from behind. We ROG ON!
