In 2026 we continue with lectures for young athletes

In February, the Primož Roglič Foundation, in cooperation with the Črnuče Volleyball Club, organized two educational lectures as part of the series “Winning Mindset: Everything a Young Athlete Needs to Know!”, aimed at young athletes and their holistic development. The central topic of the lectures was sports nutrition, which represents one of the key foundations for healthy development, high-quality training, and long-term athletic success. The lectures were led by Dr. Leon Bedrač, an expert in sports nutrition, who presented to the young volleyball players—in a clear and practical way—the importance of proper eating habits, especially during adolescence and periods of intensive training. During the lecture, young athletes learned: how to properly distribute meals throughout the day, what to eat before and after training, how to recognize signs of insufficient energy intake, how to responsibly approach the use of dietary supplements. Special emphasis was placed on understanding nutrition as an integral and equal part of training, as it significantly impacts not only athletic performance, but also recovery, health, and the overall well-being of young athletes. “Young athletes often think they can compensate for everything else through training. But without proper nutrition, the body will eventually say no. The right habits, however, can quickly lay the foundation for great success,” emphasized the lecturer. The topic strongly engaged the young athletes, as shown by the many questions and the active discussion following the lectures. We will continue the “Winning Mindset” lecture series in the future, as the goal of the program is to provide young athletes with knowledge that helps them build a successful sporting path—both on and off the court.
