For us, the highlight of the year was for sure the title of Olympic champion. For this reason, a gold collection was created. Now is the time introduce you to the star of our special gold collection. The red thread of the gold collection is the profile of the Olympic time trial course, so it is in the spotlight as well this time. The winning time is imprinted on the back. It’s not just a black and gold cycling jersey. It is a piece of history and a monument to the Olympic Champion.

Good morning, cycling fans. Today is July 28, day in Japan will be sunny and hot.

We have an exciting day ahead of us at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo. We soon start live coverage of the second and also the last test for road cyclists; the Individual time trial.

The men’s Olympic time trial trial begins. Primož Roglič is only Slovenian on the startlist and he starts at 9.01.

Quite a few riders have already set out on the track. They face a challenging course. The 22.1 km circuit will be covered twice, and the route is quite hilly.

On this time trial, there are five time checks. The organizers set the timechecks at 9.7 km, 15 km, 22.1 km, 31.8 km and 37.1 km, and at the finish line, where the final distance will be 44.2 km.

We have the first intermediate time – Canadian Hugo Houle stopped the 15 km clock at 18:40:85.

The Canadian is still in the lead after the first lap. The time now is 28:25:58.

The Belgian Remco Evenepoel , which many rank among the favorites for medals, has started.

Evenepoel justifies the status of the favorite for now, with the third best time on the first split and the second best on the second. In the lead in the first two intermediate times is the Italian Alberto Bettiol. Less than an hour untill the start of the Slovenian.

Great performance by Colombian Rigoberto Uran. Towards the end of the second lap, he gained 20 seconds over Evenepoel.

Primož Roglič started! The hour of truth for Slovenia. Can he improves 10th place from the 2016 Olympics in Brazil? Just in front of him, the Dutchman Tom Dumoulin, a former world time trial champion and ITT silver medalist from Rio rolled of the start ramp.

Colombian Rigoberto Uran is in the finish with just two seconds of advantage. Leading time is now 57:19. Evenepoel in second place.

Dumoulin takes the lead on the first split.

Exceptional! Roglič is 2.7 seconds faster than Dumoulin at 9.7 km.

Rogla again faster at the second split point, this time by 5 seconds.

World time trial champion, Italian Ganna is the fastest in the first part, 0.6 seconds ahead of our champion. It will be close until the last meter.

Dumoulin finishes the first lap as the fastest, with a time of 27:38. Wout van Aert, the top favorite of today’s race, approached Roglič at 4 thousandths in the second split!

The fastest time for Roglič after the first lap. He increased the lead over Dumoulin to 8 seconds. What can van Aert and Ganna show?

All riders completed the first lap. At the top of the rank is the Slovenian name with a time of 27:30. We keep our fingers crossed.

Dumoulin takes the lead again at 31.8 km – a huge minute in front of Uran. How much power does Primož Roglič has left?

Insane! Roglič isn’t slowing down, Dumoulin is second again, when the advantage of the Slovene at 31.8 km is already half a minute!

In the last intermediate, Primož leads by 42 seconds. Ladies and gentlemen, it  looks like we have a medal. Not only that, maybe even gold medal. Less than 10 km to the finish.

Van Aert and Ganna lag far behind in the last split. We are expecting a Slovenian hero at the finish line soon.

Primož Roglič is in the finish! He took the lead with a time of 55:04, the only one who was able to keep the average speed above 48 km / h. Let’s wait a few more minutes for all the riders to complete the race. What a nerve wracking race!

Primož Roglič is the Olympic champion! Gold medal for Slovenia! He beat all the rivals for more than a minute. Amazing, what a day!

Slovenia celebrates a new Olympic champion! The first gold medal for Slovenian cycling. It shines even more if we know that he had to leave the Tour de France three weeks ago due to the consequences of a heavy crash.

Sensation! Cheers!
